Abstract

The purpose of this study was to reach a understanding of consciousness concerning the periodontics and prepare the preventive means against periodontal disease.
Questionnaires were developed and surveyed by some community residents in j city, kyung nam during the perid 1998.5.14-614.
The surveyed outcomes created the analysis as the frequency and pecentage for the general, periodontal consciousness according to the general, the difference of perceptions related to periodontics was developed to use ANOVA Analysis.
The perception related to oral condition and periodontics was controlled as pearson¢¥s correlation coefficient.
The result of the general is as follows:
1. Oral health-educated people is 50.2%, non oral health-educated people is 49.8%, mal and femal rate is 31.8% to 68.2%, age distribution are 20-29 years-70.4%, 10-19 years-10.5%, 40-49 years -9.0%, 30-39 years- 7.1% and above 50 years-3%.
There are above present college students-68.2% in academic background, non-religion-47.9% in belief, students-62.5% in occupation, five members-34.8% in family.
2. The general perceptions concerning periodontics have no statistical difference from pre-oral health education, but have the statistical difference from school
career[F(2, 261)=7.11, P< .011 and occupation[F(4, 257)=2.74, P< .05] in periodontal disease.
3. Early stage of gingivitis perception has significant difference from occupation and [F(4, 257)=4.08, P< .051 family members[F(8, 250)=2.10, P< .051.
4. The perception of periodontal disease breaking factors has statistical difference from ages[F(4, 258)=3.16, P< .051.
5. The perception of periodontal disease prevention and treatment has significant difference from occupational variable[F(4, 257)=2.66, P< .051.
6. The result of dental common sense, mind and behavior is significantly associated with pre-oral health education effects [F(1, 265)=5.73, P< .051.
7. The perception of missing tooth and early stage gingivitis symptom has co-relation as 0.15616(P< .05), the perception of missing tooth and periodontal disease factors has significant relation each other as 0.12246(P< .05).
